Central Arkansas vs UCLA Live

The No. 20 Kansas State Wildcats will host the Central Arkansas Bears on Saturday night. Here is how to watch this college football game online.

It’s college football season, America! From now on for the next three months, it’s all about getting fired up for Saturday. At this point of the year, every Power 5 team can convince themselves they can do something special this year. One team that could have a very great year in the Big 12 is Bill Snyder’s Kansas State Wildcats.

The No. 20 Wildcats will host the Central Arkansas Bears for a 7:10 p.m. ET kickoff at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan on September 2. ESPN 3 will have the national broadcast. The available live streams can be found on WatchESPN and FuboTV.

RELATED: SportsBook Review has full college football odds

This is a game that Kansas State should roll. Since Central Arkansas is not a Division I team, no point spread is available for this Week 1 contest. Kansas State is one of about four teams that can win the Big 12. Don’t be shocked if Snyder’s Wildcats make it to the revived Big 12 Championship this year.

Kansas State has a returning starting quarterback that Snyder trusts in Jesse Ertz. The Wildcats might have the best defense in the Big 12 this season. That’s not saying much, but it’s something. Let’s not forget that Snyder has battled throat cancer in the offseason. His team could play with a ton of passion this year, upsetting the Bedlam rivals from their shot at reaching the College Football Playoff.

Date: Saturday, Sep. 2
Time: 7:10 p.m. ET
Location: Manhattan, Kansas
Venue: Bill Snyder Family Stadium
TV Info: ESPN 3
Live Stream: WatchESPN, FuboTV

We may only get the legendary coach Snyder for another season or two. What he has done for this Kansas State program is one of the most remarkable turnarounds in college football history. EMAW Nation is fired up for this game. Are you?

College Football Hall of Famer, Heisman Trophy winner, and Biletnikoff Award voter Desmond Howard will present the 2017 Biletnikoff Award winner on the show. Howard is one of only 5 ends or receivers who has won the Heisman Trophy, joining Larry Kelley, Leon Hart, Johnny Rodgers, and Biletnikoff Award voter Tim Brown.

The correlation between Biletnikoff Award winners and stardom in the National Football League is predictable. Past Biletnikoff Award winners include Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, Michael Crabtree, Amari Cooper, and Larry Fitzgerald.

The 2017 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented the Biletnikoff Award trophy by college and pro football hall of famers Fred Biletnikoff and keynoter Floyd Little before 550 patrons at the Biletnikoff Award Banquet at the University Center Club at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Saturday, February 10, 2018. The banquet was hailed by 2014 keynote speaker Dick Vermeil, as well as by 2013 keynoter Larry Csonka, as “the best banquet in college sports.”

The banquet has featured distinguished keynoters of profound character and accomplishments including Bart Starr, Dick Vermeil, Larry Csonka, Steve Largent, Mike Ditka, Don Shula, Dan Reeves, Archie Manning, Ron Jaworski, Gene Stallings, Bob Griese, Bill Curry, Bobby Bowden, Jim Kelly, Jerry Kramer, Joe Theismann, and Dan Fouts.

The banquet also recognizes the Foundation’s scholarship recipients who will be offered by the Foundation over $800,000 in college and vocational scholarships and related benefits in 2018 as in 2016 and 2017. The Foundation’s charitable mission is the provision of college and vocational scholarships to North Florida high school seniors who have overcome significant barriers to achieve at the highest academic and extra-curricular levels.

The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., will announce the three finalists on November 20, 2017. Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the pro and college football halls of fame, was an All-America receiver at Florida State University, and an All-Pro receiver for the Oakland Raiders. He caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns in his 14-year Raiders career from 1965 through 1978. Fred was the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XI. The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation (TQC), Inc., created the Biletnikoff Award in 1994.

Bucknell vs North Carolina Live

Bucknell faces a defending national champion for the first time in team history on Wednesday night when it travels to Chapel Hill to face No. 9 North Carolina.

• This game is a home-site contest in the Phil Knight Invitational (PK80).

• Bucknell has dropped its first two games of the season, 79-78 at Monmouth and 101-73 at Arkansas last weekend. The Bison shot 40.0% as a team from 3-point range in those two games, but struggled at the foul line (.486).

• The Bison have a challenging non-conference schedule, starting with an opening-week gauntlet that takes them on the road to Monmouth, Arkansas, North Carolina and Maryland in the season’s first eight days.

• Bucknell has two North Carolina natives returning home. Sophomore Ben Robertson is from High Point and attended High Point Christian. Freshman John Meeks (Burlington) led the Burlington School to an undefeated season and a Class 1-A state title last season.

• Senior Zach Thomas had a career performance on Friday night at Monmouth. He set personal bests with 31 points and 16 rebounds, including 24 points and 11 board in the second half. Thomas became the first Bucknell player to record at least 30 points and 15 rebounds in a game since Boakai Lalugba had 30 and 15 against Cornell on Nov. 26, 2001. Thomas followed that game with 24 points and 10 rebounds at Arkansas on Sunday. He was named Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday.

• The Bison were the unanimous favorite in the Patriot League Preseason Poll of head coaches and sports information directors. Nana Foulland was voted PL Preseason Player of the Year and was joined on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team by Thomas.

• Bucknell has all five starters back from last year’s team that swept the Patriot League regular-season and tournament titles and went to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time in program history. The Bison took fourth-seeded West Virginia right to the wire before falling 86-80.

• North Carolina opened its season with an 86-69 win over Northern Iowa on Friday. Luke Maye scored 26 points to lead the Tar Heels. Head coach Roy Williams will be going for his 400th win at UNC on Wednesday.

How to Get the Game

• The Bucknell-North Carolina game will be televised by the ACC Network and streamed on ESPN3/WatchESPN. Dave Weekley and Mark Adams will have the call.

• The game can be heard in the Susquehanna Valley on the radio on Eagle 107 (WEGH 107.3 FM), with Doug Birdsong calling the action. The pregame show begins 30 minutes before tip-off.

• Live statistics can be accessed via GoHeels.com.

• The audio feed is available online free of charge on personal computers via BucknellBison.com and Eagle107.com. To listen on iPhone and Android devices, download the official Bucknell Athletics app.

• Follow @Bucknell_MBB for in-game updates on Twitter.

Last Time Out

• Bucknell ran into an Arkansas team firing on all cylinders offensively, and the Razorbacks prevailed 101-73 on Sunday night in Fayetteville. After a one-point loss at Monmouth on Friday, the Bison had a tough test against a veteran Southeastern Conference team that starts four seniors and was coming off a 39-point rout of Samford in its opener.

Zach Thomas recorded his second straight double-double to start the season with 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bison. Nana Foulland added 17 points, and Stephen Brown had 13 points and nine assists.

• Arkansas shot 53.5% on the night, including 55.6% in a 56-point first half. The Bison shot 53.8% in the opening half 44.8% for the game.

• Arkansas led 56-34 at the break. Both teams came out hot in the second half. Bucknell started 7-for-9 from the field, including 3-for-4 from long range, but the Bison could not get enough stops to make a run. Arkansas hit nine of its first 12 to start the half, including a number of tough shots in the lane.

American vs West Virginia Live

THE BIG IDEA: It’s not just Republican senators any more. From his perch outside the White House, Stephen K. Bannon is now picking fights with the foreign policy establishment.

David Petraeus reflected on the lessons of the Iraq surge yesterday during a day-long conference sponsored by the conservative Hudson Institute on countering violent extremism. “This is a generational struggle,” the retired Army general and former CIA director said. “Therefore, we must have a sustainable and sustained commitment as our strategy. … That is: we need to have a strategy that is sustainable in terms of the expenditure of blood and treasure, so that we can have the kind of sustained commitment that is necessary in an endeavor that is generational in nature.” Part of that, he explained, means never setting timelines for withdrawal.

Bannon, who was President Trump’s chief strategist into the summer, sought to directly refute Petraeus when he appeared at the conference later in the day. “There’s nobody in the United States that wants to be engaged in combat operations, Special Forces operations, drone operations (for multiple generations),” he said. “That’s just not where the American people are. It’s not the way our country was founded or formed. … We’re prepared to be allies. What we don’t want is these countries to be protectorates. It’s not our fight.”

He said Petraeus was too focused on “nation building.” “We have to build a nation called the United States of America,” Bannon said. “The way you can have Pax Americana is if we’re a robust and strong society ourselves, not trying to impose our way of life and our beliefs on other people.”

After privately urging him for months to not go along with the military’s recommendation, Bannon also broke publicly with Trump over his decision to escalate U.S. involvement in Afghanistan. “In Afghanistan, I believe we’ve tried to impose our values,” said Bannon, who is back to running Breitbart News. “I believe we’re trying to impose a liberal democratic system on a society that clearly to me doesn’t seem to want it. … We’re not looking to transform the world into our values. The world has got to come to its own conclusions about how it wants to govern themselves.”

Indiana vs Seton Hall Live

That line was muttered by fictional coach Norman Dale in the movie “Hoosiers” before he took to the court for his first game as the head coach of the Hickory Huskers.

First-year Indiana University men’s basketball coach Archie Miller could’ve made the same statement as he walked off the Assembly Hall court last weekend after getting shellacked by Indiana State 90-69.

His team bounced back with a narrow win over Howard on Sunday in Bloomington, but now the Hoosiers (1-1) face their first true road test with a game at Seton Hall (2-0) Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. (FS1).

“Early in the season,” Miller said Tuesday when he met with the media, “our guys have really had to take on a lot.”

Miller touched on a number of topics Tuesday, here are five of those.

Miller said that the health status of junior forward Juwaun Morgan (ankle sprain) was still unknown as it pertained to him playing against the Pirates, so as it did against Howard, that means more opportunity for freshman forward Justin Smith.

“He’s going to get thrown into the fire,” Miller said of Smith. “For him, that’s awesome, because he’s going to get live reps.”

The 6-foot-7 Smith got a lot of “live reps” during his 27-minute stint against Howard after Morgan went down early in the game with his injury.

Smith finished with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds, which impressed Miller.

“I thought he did a nice job against Howard,” Miller said. “We also spent a lot of time watching film on how much better he can be, how much tougher he’s going to have to be, especially as we’re getting ready to go to Seton Hall.”

Knicks vs Thunder

  Free TV

The Knicks fans who wanted Carmelo Anthony leave NY already will get a close look of what they gained and what was lost, as the Knicks will open new season in Anthony’s new city, OKC, to meet with their recent point leader and the MVP of the last season, Russell Westbrook, and his Thunder. This could go ugly quickly, but this season is not about winning for the Knicks, it’s about losing.

Kudos to Phil Jackson and his decision to draft Porzingis, and kudos to Porzingis himself, for proving doubters wrong to become one of the most coveted assets in the league. However, is a rare shiny moment for the Knicks organization, one that couldn’t help Jackson save his chair. Porzingis, one time excited to be a member of the Knicks, may not want to extend his contract with the franchise.

In fact, the Knicks have been all about broken relationships. Their former stars are not welcome in the arena, they failed to offer a head coaching gig to all-time great Ewing, sack GMs and coaches and drive away players. If losing is not enough, these are tough times for the franchise and their fans.

To stop you short of believing that I’m bashing them for letting Anthony go, I’m actually not a big fan of his game. Never was, and his departure will clear the air and help establish the winning culture. His me-first approach may suit Big Apple more than other NBA venues, but it hurt the Knicks. In the end, the Knicks actually got an excellent return in his trade. Unfortunately, other decisions have been terrible.

The Knicks enter the 2017/18 season without a starting point guard. They drafted unready Ntilikina and his inexperience has been compounded by the untimely injury that has prevented him to dress for the preseason games. The Knicks are the only NBA team to lose all of their preseason games, and if you are a fan of tanking, they should probably look to continue in the same fashion. (It will probably happen anyway). But, back to the PG situation.

Ramon Sessions and Jarret Jack are candidates to start, an underwhelming solution, even for a team who started Rose last year. Tim Hardaway was given fortunes to play for them again, although he plays only with the ball. Another addition, McDermott will start at the three. European duo of Porzingis and Hernangomez will start in the frontcourt. There’s an outside chance that Joakim Noah re-claims his spot with the starting unit, but he’s suspended for the first 12 games of the season.

Clippers vs Lakers

  Free TV

Although it was questionable whether Lonzo Ball would start on Thursday night, the Lonzo era looks set to begin at the Staples Center against the Clippers. In Magic Johnson’s first full season as Head of Basketball Operations, can the  young core of LA in Lonzo, Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle and others get the season off on the right track? Although most of the hype has been about the former UCLA star, Kyle Kuzma was the more impressive in the preseason. Whether his good run of form will continue in the regular season remains to be seen.

For the Clippers, although Chris Paul is a major loss, the team looks to have gotten deeper, acquiring Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker and Montrezl Harrell in the trade with Houston, and also bringing in Danilo Gallinari and flashy point guard Milos Teodosic from the Euroleague. It will take time for all these new pieces to connect, yet we saw exciting flashes of what could be to come in the preseason. Many have counted the Clippers out for anything serious this season, but they’re definitely a potential dark horse in the Western Conference.

With Paul now gone, it’s up to Griffin to lead this team, both in the figurative sense, but also with his court play. As a talented point forward, he should look to have the ball in his hands more and get players involved, especially given the absence of any star guards on the team.

With a speedy and pass-first point guard in Ball, the Lakers should run the floor every time they grab a rebound, especially given the young talent on the floor. Teammates now know that if they break at pace in transition, Ball will find them. This will be a key weapon in the Lakers’ arsenal for this game, and the season.

The Staples Center will be rocking on Thursday night, and with that comes a lot of pressure. We already saw the crowds that flooded to the Summer League, and it will be on a much larger scale in this game. Making sure that the team doesn’t get caught up in the moment will be key for the Lakers, as this Clippers team is still no joke.
